Moving In Tips For University Students
One of the scariest events in a student’s life when taking their bachelors degree is moving in to the dorm right before college. Apart from being away from home, the student will have to fend for himself as his parents will not be beside him anymore. Here are some tips for students moving in soon:
Check out the dorm you shall be living in. Make sure that the basic facilities are available, such as water and electricity. Check the pipes and the electrical wiring to ensure that you will be safe. Also make sure that the area where you will be staying is safe.
Buy all necessary things. If you need hot water, buy a water heater. If you are the type who needs airconditioning, check if the dorm has an aircon. If not, buy one. Buy the necessary kitchen utensils and toiletries.
Make a list of what you need to bring. This will make it easier for you to pack. Furthermore you will know what else to buy.
Visit your roommate prior to the date of moving in. This will allow you guys to bond and feel at ease with each other.
Familiarize yourself with the area where your dorm is. Be sure to note where the supermarket is and the nearest hospital and police station in case of any emergencies.
Schedule someone to help you move your things. If you need a professional mover, hire one a couple of weeks in advance to make sure you can be settled in right away.
Lastly move into your dorm about a week or two before the opening of school to make sure you are settled in for the opening of school.
