Apprehensions of an Online Student
Tuesday, December 9th, 2008
You are now admitted and enrolled in an online college, problem now is, you have some concerns and hesitations and you do not know what to do. This is common for first timers. But, don’t worry, there are solutions to your uneasiness.
Don’t be afraid to ask questions. As an online student there are several ways to get the answers you are seeking. If your course offers instructor support (and I would recommend courses that do), you can always direct inquiries to your teacher. Top-notch courses tend to provide first-class support so that students never feel lost or alone during the e-learning process. However, online chat rooms, if provided, are another great resource for students seeking answers. Online chat rooms give students a forum to meet other students taking the same course and ask questions or discuss assignments. More than likely another student taking the course has had or will have the same question. If you need an immediate answer – do your best to find the answer yourself. You’ll likely satisfy other lingering questions in the process and often times the journey to the answer teaches you more than the answer itself.
Get What You Give
Remember that noncredit, continuing education and certificate courses are designed to provide the skills necessary to acquire professional caliber positions for in-demand occupations. The more effort you put forth in these online courses to comprehend the lessons taught the more likely you are to succeed after the course is finished. Extra effort during the course will lead to an easier transition in your new positions or with your new responsibilities. E-learning has a lot to offer students who dedicate the time and focus to extracting everything the course has to offer.

Tools Used for Distance Learning
Sunday, December 7th, 2008
With the event of the rapid improvement and innovations on science and technology, so many tools and apparatuses have been very helpful in the expansion of distance learning. In the twentieth century, radio, television, and especially the Internet have all been used to enhance distance education. Computers and the Internet have made distance learning distribution very much easier and a lot faster. For example, a private, for-profit Phoenix University, which is primarily an online university, now has two hundred thousand students and expects to serve five hundred thousand by 2010, yet little is known about student success or lack of success in such a fast-growing institution. In 2006 the Sloan Consortium reported that more than 96 percent of the largest colleges and universities in the United States offered online courses and that almost 3.2 million U.S. students were taking at least one online course during the fall 2005 term. In short, there is an increasing number of student enrollees for the online courses.
Despite the fact that minimal data is available on the student success rate on on-line schools, there are some on-line educational institutions that show good student outcomes. One example is Canada’s leading distance education providers, Open Learning (TRU-OL) of Thompson Rivers University. TRU-OL educational goals are obtainable for anyone through accessible and varied courses that can be taken anytime and at an individually-determined pace. With over 400 individual courses and more than 57 programs available for completion by distance and online learning, students can take a variety of programs such as: adult secondary school completion; certificates and diplomas, including advanced and post-baccalaureate; associate degrees; and bachelor’s degrees.

Online Learning Programs
Saturday, December 6th, 2008
If you are one of those persons who want to earn quality education but are unable to because of location, time and money constraints, don’t lose hope. An online learning program is fit for you. With a computer, an Internet connection and a little self-discipline, you can earn a degree from home, work, or anywhere else for that matter. Online degree programs follow much the same routines as traditional learning, with a few twists. There are lectures, but they won’t be in person. There are assignments, but you won’t hand them to your instructor. There are exams, but you won’t be able to look at your neighbor’s paper. There may be a set time that “class” begins, but you don’t have to be there then. In most situations, you are free to “go to class” when it fits your schedule. If you get a phone call during class, you don’t have to miss anything. If you get sick, you don’t have to ask for someone’s notes, you just visit the lecture later.
You’ll communicate with your instructor by e-mail, chat rooms, bulletin boards, and instant messaging. Your classroom will live in a special software program that uses text chat and bulletin boards, as well as streaming audio or recorded lectures. You may be put into a virtual workgroup with other students and be required to solve a problem. You may have to work through interactive puzzles and quizzes. Contrary to popular belief, you will have contact with other students and the instructor.

the importance of persistence in online classes.
Friday, December 5th, 2008
You have to remember that in this world one will never amount to anything if he or she does not have even a little persistence. Whether you are just craving for something to munch on or wanting to graduate at the top of your class and pursue that big time law career that you have bee aspiring for since you are just a young boy. Persistence is the key to success. How is this related to online classes then? Well, this type of education is not just for anybody. This type of online class is so different because of the manner in which one has to study. One has to be persistent independently and with little moral support from any actual instructors to guide you though and through. Because of the constant studying alone time that you will be able to enjoy, one might think that this is a struggle to get through to and actually finish but in fact it is often times than not faster because you get to concentrate more one the tasks and learnings and knowledge at hand instead of the usual distractions that there are when you are in an actual learning environment such as peers and little noises that classmates might tend to do and create. Soon enough, after a little or a lot of hard work, it will pay off because a graduates degree usually gets one going for his or her future and with more persistence, one will be well off by himself and raise a family even if possible.
